Mitsubishi iMiev commercial launch in 2009!

Although previous information hinted at simple, one speed transmission, this is not the case, as iMIEV has additional "transmission" labeled ECO. In eco drive car has 10% longer reach. IMIEV_SS04_440.jpgThe spacious interior includes a stereo, air conditioning, navigation, and a digital speedometer.

The iMiEV has charging ports on both sides to charge up its lithium ion batteries. iMiev has 63 horse power electric motor, energized by 330 volt li-ion battery pack.

On several occasions in past Mitsubishi hinted that on a full charge, the iMiEV can go about 100 miles. i-MIEV stores energy for propulsion in a lithium ion battery pack that was redesigned in 2008. The battery is produced by a new joint venture company owned by GS Yuasa and Mitsubishi.

With these latest cells, the i-MiEV was supposed to extend its range to about 99-106 miles per charge, but officials at Mitsubishi are quoting lower numbers - as US average driving …  By the way - the batteries are not exclusive to Mitsubishi and they will make there energy storage systems available to any car-maker that's interested.
